SHARON MANSFIELD - Script Supervisor
Credits include: "Harry Potter", "Sunshine", "Brother's Grimm" and "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (Features, 2nd Unit) and "In Deep" (TV series).
Completed FT2 (then Jobfit) in 1991 as Continuity.
Prior to FT2 training Sharon was a video production trainee in Southampton on a Youth Training Scheme. Through that she met a freelance continuity person who told her about the industry's New Entrant Technical Training Programme.
"Unfortunately, I didn’t know anyone who worked in the film industry," explains Sharon. "And If I hadn’t managed to get a placement on JOBFIT then I wouldn't have stood a chance of gaining a footing in the freelance world. You were my only route and I was lucky enough to get on the train. The training gives you a massive insight into the industry - you definitely need a ground knowledge of everyone's department."
Sharon's advice for trainees:
"You have to be enthusiastic and prepared to do anything – even if it is making the tea or filing. Do it all with enthusiasm and of course, keep a smile on your face. While training make your contacts and keep in touch with them as they are your future in the industry, though it's a fine line between being annoying and them wanting to put you forward for jobs. It's a personality thing."
