Principles of Equality

FT2’s commitment to an Equal Opportunities policy is embodied in the following principles:

a. Discrimination, direct or indirect, based on a person’s gender, colour, ethnic or national origin, age, socio-economic background, disability, religious or political beliefs, family circumstance, sexual orientation or any other irrelevant distinction to employment, training or NVQ assessment is unlawful, un- just and immoral.

b. In addition to being unlawful, such forms of discrimination represent a waste of human resources and a denial of opportunity for individual self-fulfilment.

c. Whilst the film and television industry has made significant moves to widen opportunity in the United Kingdom, FT2 is determined through programmes of legally acceptable positive action to increase the level of participation of people that are currently under-represented.

d. FT2 recognises that a successful Equal Opportunities policy requires the active support of everyone involved in the operation, administration and management of the organisation. FT2 will seek the commitment and involvement of all involved in the organisation in the implementation of this policy.

e. FT2 will seek to encourage good practice in equal opportunities within its management structures and with those external organisations with whom it works.

f. All employees have personal responsibility for the practical application of the FT2’s equal opportunities policy, which extends to the treatment of job applicants, employees, customers and visitors.

g. Special responsibility for the practicable application of FT2’s equal opportunities policy falls upon managers, supervisors and personnel officers involved in the recruitment, selection, promotion and training of employees.

h. Disciplinary action will be taken against any employee who is found to have committed an act of unlawful discrimination. Serious breaches of this policy and serious incidents of harassment will be treated as gross misconduct. Allegations of discrimination which are not made in good faith will also be considered as a disciplinary matter. Confidential records of ongoing matters dealt with in accordance with this policy will be retained by the Director.

i. FT2 will keep under review its policy, procedures and practices on equal opportunities.
