A television production assistant is a junior secretarial position in the production office. It is an administrative, organisational and secretarial job. They will the assist the production team, which includes the director or producer, production manager and production co-ordinator in all stages of production
Job duties will vary depending on the type of production, be it documentary or factual entertainment, but they will include assisting in the co-ordinating and planning of meetings, schedules, payments and contracts, preparing and distributing scripts, booking catering, accommodation, flights for performers and crew, conducting research.
All production trainees must be able to touch-type and have qualifications for touch-typing at 40 wpm or more. FT2 looks for good proven secretarial skills when recruiting assistant production co-ordinators. Previous office experience is desirable.
